What happens during crown and bridge placement?

Before crown and bridge placement, Dr. Lee meets with you to examine your gums and teeth, review the results of your dental X-rays, and discuss your oral health history and goals. She determines if you’re a candidate for a crown, bridge, or a combination of dental treatments.

If you choose implant-supported crowns or bridges, you might first need bone grafting or tooth extraction. Dr. Lee numbs the treatment area and offers you a sedative. She then inserts dental implants into your jawbone. After a period of healing, she securely attaches crowns or bridges to the implants to replace missing or extracted teeth.

During traditional crown or bridge placement, Dr. Lee also offers a sedative to help you relax comfortably. She may first clean the affected tooth and remove any decay. She covers the tooth with a temporary crown or bridge until your permanent tooth restoration is ready for placement.
